Blues from the blues

Wednesday 1st October

This morning we had the 55s breakfast where all the states get together. This was held at a restaurant on the South bank and we decided to walk. Unfortunately the people leading the group went at best at right angles or possibly 180 degrees from the right direction resulting in an extra 15 minutes. This was despite protests (mainly from me) that they were going the wrong way. When I said I'd go the way I wanted, I was told to do the team thing. The result was we were late at the restaurant and most of the tables were already filled, which defeats the object of mixing between the teams. I foudn a Victorian girl who was happy to change her place for one with 2 WA girls. we took a more direct route back.

I had another physio appointment at 12-30. He worked again on my pelvis which he said had tightened up a bit. Again it was quite painful but hopefully worthwhile. I had only a short tiem after arriving home before the team meeting and then we were off to the stadium. We had to get there early to have the team photos taken.

I played the entire match today and more or less came off unscathed except for one chase after a ball heading out fo the circle. I played high striker most of the time and scored a goal when Karen got a long pass to me. I was very tightly marked but was able to run away from the full back when the ball went into space. I pushed it passed the full back and ran into the circle pushing across the top of the circle to get opassed the goalie. My first swing was a miss but I recovered and had a second shot which went in at about 3 ft in height. This even the score but they scored twice again. I had another shot on our only short corner which hit the back board but was judge (possibly incorrectly according to many people) as not getting out of the circle before I took the shot. I was given the player of the match award as the only person to score a goal against NSW in the round robin games.

Victoria beat Queensland to keep them in 4th place so we finished 3rd and will play the Vickies tomorrow. We stayed on to watch the 35s play with a game in between, so we had time to get some fish and chips. I finished up videoing their game which they lost 4-1. The battery ran out before the last goal was scored so they were spared that.
